Lunglei: Lungsen Aspirational Block has secured Overall Rank 30 in the Q4 (January–March) ranking of the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) for 2025–26). The ranking places Lungsen among the better performing Aspirational Blocks in the country.
The achievement is the result of the continued efforts of the Lunglei District Administration, Lungsen RD Block and various line departments in improving the delivery of government schemes and services in the block.
Under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei, several initiatives have been taken to improve the performance of the district and its Aspirational Block. One of the major initiatives is Project BLOOM, which was introduced to improve maternal and child health services in remote areas. The project has helped in improving access to healthcare for pregnant women and mothers, particularly those living in difficult-to-reach areas.
Project BLOOM has also received recognition at the national level and was presented as a best practice at a NITI Aayog seminar in New Delhi.
The District Administration has also been giving importance to improving the implementation of the Sampoornata Abhiyan, which aims to achieve saturation of selected development indicators in Aspirational Blocks. As part of these efforts, attention has been given to basic facilities in government schools, including the construction of multi-unit toilets in schools where such facilities were inadequate.
These works, along with interventions in health, education, sanitation, nutrition, agriculture and other sectors, have contributed to improving the overall performance of Lungsen.
The administration has also continued to encourage close coordination between different departments so that government programmes reach the people more effectively. Regular monitoring of indicators and identification of gaps have helped departments focus on areas where improvement is required.
The Rank 30 achieved in the latest ABP ranking is therefore a reflection of the combined efforts of the District Administration, Lungsen RD Block, line departments, frontline workers, local leaders and the people of Lungsen.
The achievement is also a motivation for the administration to continue its efforts and improve the performance of Lungsen in the coming quarters, with the aim of bringing further improvements in the lives of the people of the block.
